I worked on this video from 2009-2010 while at J.J Varab Digital Arts in Celebration, Florida. My roles for the video were lead texture artist, lead compositor and graphic designer. As well as working on the animated video, I created the DVD packaging, information booklet, and business plan graphics.

Artist of the Month

I’m not really sure why I never mentioned this when it happened LAST YEAR…but regardless, I was noticed by a art website called Infinitee Design. I was contacted through email and was flattered to be nominated for the “Artist of the Month” feature! Since it was for the month of May, it was a pleasant birthday surprise! So apologies for being so very late, but thank you Infinitee Design for choosing my work!

I was asked to submit some of my best work. At the time, I was very involved with my animation project “Magma Corps” which was one of the DAVE school productions I worked on while I was there. I was also working with Jeffrey Varab at time and could not show most of my “Dr. Memory” animation work (still cannot), so Magma Corps was the obvious choice. To see the article webpage click here.

Premiere Debt Solutions

Premiere Debt Solutions is a debt management company based in Orlando, Florida. I designed this website while freelancing with ODS web solutions. They wanted to keep it really simple and as “white” as possible too, so this is what we ended up using for the main interface. There was also talk about creating a financial calculator, but hasn’t happened yet. I’ll definitely keep you posted!

Rituxan Custom Design

I was asked by Creative Force Productions to assist with the graphic design for this interactive ad made for Rituxan. We worked on this over a weekend back and forth before coming up with this design. What’s interesting about it, is that all of the graphic elements would light up when the mouse rolled over them or some sort of activity would happen for each click. Unfortunately, Rituxan ended up going with another design from another company. Even though it didn’t work out, I thought it was still an interesting concept that I should post. (Ignore the obvious stock photo that I didn’t finish cloning clean..)

The Defenders

The Defenders is a television show featuring Jim Belushi and Jerry O’Connell. Before it was released in the fall of 2010, Jim Belushi got a hold of my friend and co-worker, Jeffrey Varab, and asked if we could do a introduction for the pilot for the lawyers. Of course, once the show was completely funded they got some L.A. designers to recreate the introduction. Regardless, this is what me and Jeffrey created with the deadline of a couple of days. I designed the logo and then modeled, textured, lit and rendered in Maya and composited the piece in Fusion. Jeffrey did the 3d layout camera work and video editing and Mike Bellinger helped picked out the stock footage.

Dust Buneez

Dust Buneez is an idea that Jeffrey Varab, Danny Menedez, Mike Bellinger and I created in hopes that it would be picked up for either a television series or an animation movie. For a good portion of 2010, we worked very hard to get this going with the computers and sheer drive that it would be discovered and appreciated. We all did our part in the creation process. Jeffrey did all the drawing concept work and then handed it to me for style direction. While that was going on, Danny created and rigged the model. Luckly, since all of the Dust Buneez have the same simplistic body with different personalities, only one model was used. Once we had the model, I textured it and Mike handled the hair. We eventually got them to a good quality look, so I created the character sheet (Click here to see image). Eventually, we had a writer, Dennis Higgins write a screenplay for the movie. We all had high hopes once the Lego corporation gained interest in the idea and our artistic direction. However, after a few months they declined us an offer for the idea. For now, all of our work has been put into “the vault” until someone else perhaps is interested. I just thought it would be a good idea to post what we have done and hopefully others can appreciate it as well.

“Drawing with Jeffrey” DVD Design Published!

Creative Force Video Productions hired me to create their “Drawing with Jeffrey” educational series DVD design and mailout advertisement. Drawing with Jeffrey is hosted by none other than Jeffrey Varab, creative director/animator/character designer/writer/producer/editor with over 30 years of experience working in the industry (and also happens to be a freelance employer of mine). Currently there are two volumes out: Vol 1: Dogs and Cats and Vol. 2: Aliens and Dragons and more on the horizon! I feel very fortunate and lucky to get the opportunity to be apart of this creative project. The website is incredibly cool also with monthly art contests, stencils and samples of the dvd footage on the homepage! Completed my first e-commerce site!

Hey there,
I feel very proud to have finished my first
e-commerce site (by myself anyway), Puttin on the Glitz!
Turns out there are plenty of solutions out there
for beginner web developers who, like myself, really are designers by nature, but are trying to make this
web design stuff actually work for them;)

Inspiration for the FIRST official background illustration

After struggling for quite awhile, I decided to make my first background illustration art to be from my latest project, Magma Corps, a DAVE school studios production. While working visual effects on Magma Corps, I also got an opportunity to show off my graphic style with the character title cards, poster design, DVD design, and the city’s advertising signs. Since I’ve been in this field, I haven’t had as much opportunity to work with 2D graphics and honestly, I really miss it! So, I hope everyone enjoys what they see and go and check out Magma Corps if you haven’t already!
